Zimele Original Ceramics

Zimele Original Ceramics is a group of ceramic artists who specialize in hand made and painted artwork ideal for collectors and art galleries. It is also irresistible in the home as each piece is interesting and becomes a talking point. Using themes from nature and wildlife the brightly coloured and detailed work turns functional pieces into something quite beautiful and exotic.

Victor Shabalala was trained by a well-established studio. He progressed to become one of their top ceramicists. When the studio moved to the Midlands, Victor chose to stay in his home area and set up on his own. He began with two bags of clay and a used kiln. He has now trained and developed his own talented local team. The result is some very beautiful work, which is increasingly finding its way into various parts of the world. Zimele have also exhibited in Pretoria and Cape galleries. They also regularly participate and do well at the DECOREX show in Johannesburg. People are welcome to visit the studio and watch the artists while painting and sculpting their artwork. The studio is 5 kms from the Thokozisa Information Centre.
